The Bright Side Of Darkness
In almost every story you might have heard, darkness is often compared with evil, sadness, sorrow, gloom.
In almost every idiom and phrase, darkness is always bad, unethical, unfair. For example, "In the dark", "dark side", "dark days", etc.
Every nocturnal being is allegedly dangerous, poisonous, harmful and inhuman.
Every monster, vampire, ghoul, phantom and any other demonic forms you can imagine is active in dark and works in darkness.
My question is, is darkness really that dark?
I bet many people have never seen darkness. They sleep at 10 and wake up at 6. Their daily routine is fixed. Most of their work is done in day time and their nights are just for sleep. They never got a chance to see the night as they have seen the day.
And those who are awake at night, many of them still miss the opportunity. Thanks to science, electricity and IT industry. As long as they are awake, they are surrounded by lights. Stuck between mobile phones, laptops, TVs, LEDs, etc.
They never cared to look outside the window, to get out and look above, to look at the darkness and testify that the darkness they know of or heard about is not like that at all.
Then there are people who have experienced the nights, the darkness in its true form.
Unlike days, which are filled with chaos and cries.
People are running after money, to earn and fill the stomachs of their families.
Stray animals are running here and there, some with fear, others with hunger.
Homeless are crying and wailing.
Roadsides are full with children under 5, some of them sitting on the shoulders of their parents, with their arms open for some money or food.
Ill and elderly are coughing and vomiting on their armchairs with their dependents ignoring them and showing no care at all.
Widows are facing abuse by the proprietors both verbally and physically just to ensure that her hungry children at home do not sleep with empty stomach.
Government agents are looting the peasants with their hard earned money ignoring their cracked heels, tanned wrinkled skin, premature aging , malnourished children and their stunted growth.
Factory owners are phishing their own employees, embezzling money for personal gains, ignoring the sweat filled vest of workers.
Unlike days, the nights, the darkness.
It attracts you.
There is no chaos and cries. No wailing and cursing.
There is silence, peace, tranquility.
It compels you to look into it more and more, even though there is nothing to look at.
The whole sky, the whole universe looks at you from above.
All of the energy is concentrated on you and only you.
It listens to you wholeheartedly, even though, you have to speak nothing at all.
All your cries, your worries, your insecurities, your indecisions, your double whammies. The darkness knows all of it and yet it never judges you. It never compartmentalizes you. It never disparages you.
It calms you, it strengthens you, it encourages you, it rallies behind you.
You share all your problems with it without saying a single word and you start hearing solutions and suggestions from it, slowly, without hearing anything.
You see the light in the darkness, not the moonlight, not the twinkling stars, but the light which only you can see once you bond with the darkness, once you become friend with it.
The ruffling of leaves, the howling of wolves, the tik-tik of watch, start to talk with you.
The twinkling of stars, scattering of moonlight, start to dance with you.
Indeed, darkness is not dark. Not for me.

There is no light without dark, no good without evil, no male without female, no right without wrong. That nothing can exist if it's direct opposite does not exist.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. But my message was different, I wanted to convey that there is evil in light too, there is bad in light too, there is wrong in light too and that both may not be completely opposite, because dark has light too.

The fact is stated in a very convencing manner.
Evils/-ve energies do live lights too.
The plus point of darkness is, it had it's own appealing beauty :-)
